Job Description

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday (6:30am – 3:00pm)

Come join the Delta Pacific Seafoods team! – We are the largest fresh, frozen and value-added seafood operation in British Columbia, specializing in high-quality custom seafood processing, value-added and cold storage services.

Reporting to the QA Manager, and working as part of the management team, the Quality Control Supervisor provides leadership and expert guidance to a small team of QC technicians. In this position you will work closely with the facility’s Operations team and the Corporate QA team to manage all aspects of quality (inspection, monitoring, sampling and testing) ensuring the Company’s food safety policies and product quality standards are being met.

The ideal candidate will have a Food Science background, thorough technical knowledge of food safety programs, QC experience in the food processing industry and experience leading a small team.

• Monitor all aspects of fish processing activities to ensure compliance with the Company’s Quality Management Plan (QMP), regulatory and customer/buyers’ requirements.
• Conduct quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
• Train and supervise a small team of QC Technicians.
• Monitor and verify food safety programs and facility practices.
• Make appropriate decisions on the plant floor.
• Analyze QC data and prepare reports for management.
• Participate in CFIA audits and liaise with inspectors, third party auditors (BRC) and customers.
• Keep the company's HACCP plan up to date and recommend improvements to standard operating procedures as needed.
• Order supplies and materials for the QC department.
• Support the work of the Corporate QA team on special projects.
• Other related projects and tasks assigned by the QA Manager.

Skills and Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Food Science (minimum two years technical training is required).
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a quality control position in a Food Processing plant.
• 2+ years of previous supervisory experience is required.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and own transportation.
• Ability to anticipate outcomes and prepare plans to address ever changing operational needs.
• Ability to adapt, think on your feet and lead others by example.
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and accurately express information concerning product quality and food safety.
• Proficient in computers including spreadsheets.
• Must be reliable and available for all hours of operation including overtime and weekend work if necessary.
